I’m late this week. Sorry. Today was the final day of camp and we’re already starting game prep for next week’s game against Prairie View. Here’s what caught my eye on Twitter during my limited free time:
- Embarrassing Moment of the Week: Sideline to Sideline with Rice Football
I was mic’ed up for one of our early practices during training camp. Check out my voice cracking as if I’m a fourteen year old.
@JoeAshfield gets mic’d up and takes you inside the offensive line. Rice oline is not for the weak of heart! #IntellectualBrutality #NFLcurriculum pic.twitter.com/EOBCF4V2V7

- Most Embarrasing Moment for someone else I know: Sweet Lou Roasted by the Stan-U Walk-on Union
Most of you know I used to coach at Stanford. The walk-on players there have a great sense of humor and their own Twitter address: https://twitter.com/StanfordWalkers
I recommend a follow. Even if you don’t follow them, you should check out this video of what happened to one of them at practice last week. His name is Lou.

- Best Start to College I’ve Seen: O-Week at Rice
This week was Orientation (O-Week) for our Freshman. On the first night, the incoming class proceeds through the sally port of Lovett Hall for the first time as official Rice students. Superstition tells us that it’s unlucky to walk back out the sally port until students graduate. At the end of matriculation there are fireworks — not a bad welcome.
A fabulous day of move-in and matriculation ends with a bang as our new students formally join the Rice community. pic.twitter.com/5fGuFmVZ53
